Pat Sweeney

Life is full of struggles and it’s OK to ask for help.  Lots of people are dealing with anxiety and fatigue or feeling hopeless and conflicted about many things.  As a therapist, Pat views her role as a guide to help individuals navigate the issues impacting their ability to live and thrive in ways that are meaningful to them.  By building a relationship through respect, communication and trust, Pat works collaboratively with a client to create a powerful team, together exploring goals and how to best achieve them.

Pat integrates a person-centered, strengths-based approach in therapy, using elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, psychoeducation, mindfulness, and motivation practices.  She believes that spirituality is an important consideration for clients on their therapeutic journey to overall wellness.

Pat has experience providing spiritual counseling to adolescents, teens, adults, and families dealing with anxiety, depression, substance use, trauma, eating disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Prior to becoming a therapist, Pat spent 30 years in corporate communications.  She values and understands the importance of good communication, which is grounded in listening and creating a non-judgmental space for people to openly share and explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Through her professional and life experience, Pat can relate to and empathize with individuals from all walks of life and various life stages and transitions.  Pat currently sees clients in our Waukesha office.
